Eco-Ethical Weddings

Sustainable: /səˈstānəb(ə)l/ : of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged. Able to be maintained at a certain rate or level¹

Eco-conscious: \ˈē-kō-ˌkän(t)-shəs : marked by or showing concern for the environment.¹

Eco-ethical: \ˈē-kō-, ē-thi-kəl : relating to moral principles that one individually and corporately, ought to value, ought to be, and ought to do in relationships what is ecologically sound. This goes more to our core - that we aren’t just “thinking” about what is nurturing our planet, but we value it’s purpose to our core as doing what we believe is morally right.

These terms along with “Green”, “Ethical” “Eco-friendly”, “Clean”, have also been thrown around carelessly and synonymously, especially by marketing companies. It has definitely created a bit of confusion.

To help ease the confusion, at Wholehearted Events, we are defining the terms, as well as what it means to be “Sustainable” “Eco-Conscious” and “Eco-Ethical”

Weddings that are not just an investment, but an

impact

What this means for your wedding…

Wholehearted Events has always been a true advocate of cost-conscious and authentic weddings.

It is our belief that weddings are about the celebration of love, not about the caliber of the decor,

With this being said, our intention will always be to advocate for economical and SUSTAINABLE wedding choices such as

  • Donation of florals to local hospitals, nursing homes, or composting facilities

  • DIY using sustainable resources or repurposing over buying new

  • Supporting local businesses rather than shipping in items from farther away.

  • Renting items from local vendors rather than buying large amounts of items that will never be used again or will be thrown away
